The Varsity swim team celebrates at spring banquet on May 15, with a never before seen energy. For the first time ever, the Varsity Swim team placed first in the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division Championships, after completing a whole season undefeated. Dominic Vermurlen (‘19) shares, “It felt amazing to have three years of hard work pay off and I can’t wait to win again next year”. There is a feeling of lightness, and all of the team has an undying sense of accomplishment. Senior Jesse Morgan (18) leaves the team this year with a slightly heavier heart. As the team captain, Morgan has a strong bond with the rest of the team and all will be sad to see him go. Morgan says, ”Swimming was one of the few things in my life that gave me a sense of true joy for the past 4 years. I have my team and coaches to thank for that, and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t change a thing”. The swim team here is small, but they grow closer together every year, and seeing of their own leave is tough; But together they have left their mark, and the hope is that they might continue to grow in size and skill as they practice hard and keep doing what they do best.
