Why denim? Back in 1999 in Italy, an 18 year old girl was forcefully raped by her 45 year old driving instructor. As the story goes, when the case was then taken to court, it was overruled by the jury stating, “because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual sex.”

On April 26, Davelen Matias a junior at EAHS and other club members, decided to support the MyLife Club by wearing denim here on campus. Matias says, “After reading what happened to the girl, I knew I had to help somehow. Whether it was by handing out flyers, or wearing denim, I couldn’t stay just stay quiet.” The MyLife club also handed out denim bracelets which were worn all throughout campus by students. “Knowing that you're helping a great cause such as sexual assault awareness month is a great feeling.” Matias said.
